Welcome

I have chosen the title of Apprentice Sculptor not that I am studying with a master, not yet anyway, but because I deem it an appropriate classification of my abilities. I am in the beginning my career; I recently finished my BFA at UConn, and I have not achieved any significant mastery of any particular discipline in sculpture. It is also a gesture towards the amount of work in my portfolio; experienced sculptors having more. I am, however, working on it; from 2006-07 I was in Poland on a Fulbright Fellowship studying Bronze Casting in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw.

I was born in Warsaw but grew up in the United States. I am the first in my family to undertake sculpture in 70 years, and I aspire to become a professional sculptor. I am also the first to have a fascination with hippopotami and a concern for their survival. A product of this fascination was Hippoville Publishing, the domain of this site, which under its name I published my first children's picture book in 2002. Currently I am a graduate student at the Rhode Island School of Design. I am also a Young Professional member of the International Sculpture Center.
